Valentine's Day Cream Cheese Cake Pops Recipe

Valentine's Day Cream Cheese Cake Pops Recipe - BirdsParty.com

I made these cake pops for my Modern Valentine's Party.

This my attempt to make the simple cake balls look cute with the addition of some pink hearts. Anything looks better with pink hearts on, right?! :)

Valentine's Day Cream Cheese Cake Pops Recipe

Ingredients and Materials Needed: Makes about 20 pops

* 1 cake of about 8 inch already baked with crusts removed.
* 1 cup of cream cheese
* 10oz melted yellow and blue candy melts
* Lollipop Sticks
* Fuchsia Sugar Paste Fondant
* Small Heart-shaped Cutters
* Printable Valentine's Flag

Directions:

1) Place cake in large bowl and crumble with fingers until it resembles bread crumbs and add cream cheese to make a moist mixture that is easy to roll into balls. Measure a tablespoon of mixture and roll in hands to form a ball, or use a small ice cream scoop to get uniform sizes. Place cake balls onto a tray lined with grease proof (parchment) paper and chill for about 10 minutes in freezer. TIP: Scrunch the parchment paper under a tap then shake off excess water, so it's more supple and easier to line the tray with.

2) Meanwhile, melt the candy melts in the microwave (by heating at 30 second intervals until completely melted).  TIP: If candy melts are too thick, use a little flavorless oil (like rapeseed or canola) to thin down - Thanks to Gillian for that one! ;)

3) Remove cake balls from fridge, and dip the tip of cake pop stick into candy melts, then insert half way into cake ball. Repeat with all cake balls and place them back on the tray in the freezer to set for a few minutes. In the meantime cut out the hearts of fondant paste using your small cutters. Set aside.

4) Take pops out of freezer, and dip entire cake pop in chocolate into the candy melts.  Gently tap off excess chocolate on the side of bowl.

5) Add the fondant hearts whilst the candy melt is still wet.

6) Place pops upside down onto a parchment lined tray and in the frigged to set. Add a printable decorative flag to each pop stick.
