Gingerbread Halloween Vampire Cookies Recipe

Gingerbread Halloween Vampire Cookies Recipe - via BirdsParty.com
These spicy-sweet gingerbread cookies are sure to satisfy all the hungry vampires who haunt your house. The yummy icing cloaks the bare cookies in yummy vampire disguises, and are perfect treat to end to your Halloween Vampire Blood Bar on sweet, but spooky note!

Gingerbread Halloween Vampire Cookies

Ingredients:

* ¼ cup brown sugar
* generous 1/3 cup molasses
* 2 teaspoons ground ginger
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
* 2 teaspoons baking soda
* ½ cup butter, cut into chunks
* 1 egg
* 2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour
Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Put sugar, molasses, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a pan and heat to boiling point. Choose a large pan to accommodate the ingredients when they “foam.”Stir in baking soda. Take off heat and pour mixture over the butter in a bowl. Stir until the butter has melted.
Break egg into the mixture and then stir in the flour. Mix gently together until it becomes a smooth dough.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.
When chilled and stiffened slightly, roll out dough and cut cookies with cookie cutters (¼” thick will create
thicker, softer cookies). Place cookies on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Decorate with icing. Pipe small dots of black frosting onto each gingerbread man for eyes and buttons. Pipe a small straight line of black frosting for the mouth. Pipe a small amount of white frosting below the mouth
to create fangs. Use a toothpick to taper the fangs to a thin point, and splatter red icing on teeth and below. Set aside to let the frosting harden.
Serve cookies piled high onto Pottery Barn's classic 3-Tiered Stand.
