Confession time: Despite my love of parties, I never go OTT on costumes for Halloween. And I hate those shop-bought "monstrosities" costumes that you only wear once. But I DO like dressing the part for any party or celebration. So I tend to opt for some funky tee-shirts, crazy tights, makeup or a little black dress ( like in this post ). And almost every time, I reach our for animal ear headbands to complete the look (the mean girls "I'm a mouse, duh!" phrase comes to mind...).
Okay, so black electrical tape has become one of my fav go-to crafty materials lately. You may have seen the striped boxes I create for my office here ? Well, I was so inspired, that I decided to spook-up my Halloween party balloons using black electrical tape! They are perfect as party decorations, but also make fun photo booths or even as part of a funky costume.
Balloons have always had a special place in my heart, even before they were "trendy". I can't imagine a party without them. They're inexpensive and add instant color and a structural element to any party scene, what's not to love?! Nowadays, you see the most exquisite creations and arrangement for weddings, birthdays, photo booths...

My favorite part of back to school season is school supplies, by a mile. It's always been the case for me since I was a child. I think it's the smell of new books...and don't even get me started on the cute pens and paper goods! ;) So now with my own kids, I get to indulge in my stationery obsession when they go back to school. But the DIY way, of course!

Flamingos are my latest obsession . I think it's mainly due the fact that it's the perfect summer party theme. And that they're pink, of course! Not sure they'd be such a hit if they were a different color ;) So for our flamingo pool party last weekend , we (my 8 year old daughter and I) made some DIY flamingo table decorations and headbands that double duty as photo booth props!
One of my favorite elements of the Party Like Pineapple birthday table was for sure, the balloon and fronds centerpiece! Originally, I wanted to hang a balloons garland above the dessert and drinks station, but when I was making it on the dining table, I realized it would make a fab tropical centerpiece ! And so a new idea was born!
Did you catch the super awesome Superhero themed birthday party we shared earlier in the week? It was super creative and gave me the idea to use some of the printables to create a super colorful cupcake stand. This DIY is mega easy and you can make larger stands by varying the sizes, or even make several tiers like in this tutorial I shared a while back . The principle is the exact same.
For my Mediterranean inspired party ( see photos here ), I wanted to use some funky, abstract art napkins to match my relaxed blue tablescape. But it wasn't meant to be, so I had no choice but to make my own! The technique is super easy and works a treat for re-purposing old fabrics or thrift store linens you may have around the house.
