We couldn't have a 'baking party' week without talking birthday cakes, right? As much as I love any form of cake (pops, balls, cupcakes..) for me, nothing beats a majestic, good ol' birthday cake. It's the focal point, and takes center stage on the birthday table. An amazing cake can help add the wow factor to any celebration or deserts table.

So speaking of amazing cakes, with the help of Foodie.com I have searched the best DIY birthday cakes around and put them in a collection for you. And apart from being totally gorgeous, these cakes can all be made at home. Yes, honestly!

Baking Birthday Party Ideas and Inspiration - For Girls or Boys

Hey sweet friends! This week we have a super lush 'baking themed' party week for ya! So prepare to be dazzle with the eye candy ;)

My kids love to bake with me, and when I was designing Bird's Party latest Baking Party Printables, I realized there aren't many 'boy-friendly' baking parties out there, and there should be! There are lots of girly, frilly decorations, so I wanted to design and style something cute, but that would appeal to boys or girls of any age. Come to think of it, these baking party ideas would also be cool for play dates, classroom activities, or a twins birthday?!

A Very Sweet 16 Birthday Party!!

As a designer, I relish the chance to create unique printables, to push myself and challenge my abilities. Bird's Party Magazine offers me a chance to do just that. Not only we always have to come up with new and exciting ideas for each issue, but I also get to work with some incredible, talented stylists who's vision and unique events always push me to give it my all and venture out of my comfort zone.

So when the fabulous Linda told me about her inspiration and wish list for her daughter's sweet 16 birthday party, I jumped at the chance to create a set of special printables for the occasion. Something worthy of this special milestone. I loved the challenge, but was also super nervous and eager to please. After all, this was a young girl's real birthday bash, and a really important one at that!

15 Delicious 'Girls Night In' Mocktail Recipes

I'm not much of a drinker but I love a nice tipple, especially on a Girls Night In! But I also know that getting the girls 'round means you have to account for varied tastes and an array of dietary requirements - some don't drink, others are on a special diet, or counting the calories, or expecting...

So mocktails are the answer for me! But a mixologist I am not, and need all the help I can get to deliver the wow factor without comprising on taste and creativity. So I've searched and scoured the web, and put together a delicious collection of non-alcoholic drinks recipes that not only look super funky and scrumptious, but are also easy to make and pack a whole lot of punch (no pun).

Circus Birthday Party Ideas | DIY Carousel Candy Centerpiece

As part of our #SocialCircus month, I decided to make a fun DIY Carousel Centerpiece - But one made with party supplies and candy (is there a better kind?!) that anyone may have in the house at the time of the birthday party.

So I raided my party shop and grabbed paper platescandy tubes and dinky striped paper straws. Not forgetting the adorable Circus printables, and my trusty glue gun of course! ;)

This cute carousel centerpiece would be fun as a birthday desserts table candy dish, kids table decoration or even a fun party activity (minus the hot glue!). It's easy to make, quick and inexpensive too!

DIY Strawberry Themed Desserts Table + Recipes

I styled this mini desserts table for the July/August edition of the French national magazine, Créative. And when choosing a theme, strawberries just seemed the perfect match for a seasonal and super sweet table!

Needless to say, I LOVED styling it - not only did I get to design and shoot a brand new printable party theme in another language, but I also got to play with fondant. A lot! And fondant is kinda like modelling clay for grown ups ;)

Another fun aspect is that I had baked all the desserts myself (yes, that is fun for me..), from the cookies to the marshmallow pops, the strawberry cookies, cake and cupcakes !! (scroll down to see the recipe links).
