As promised in my last post,    I'm sharing the step-by-step tutorial on How To Make a Toadstool Cake today! I've always wanted to bake a toadstool cake, and styling our Pixie Fairy Party gave the perfect opportunity to head to the kitchen and get a little creative and adventurous. Now, I feel I need to add a little disclaimer here, to let you know I'm no professional baker and this was my total invention and first time making a toadstool cake. But hopefully it also shows that if I can do it (and super easily, I may add), then anyone can too! ;)

I had so much fun styling this party!  It gave me a chance to re-work our existing Pixie Fairy Designs from lilac to pink, and to create a simple yet charming kids birthday party! Usually it takes me a good four months to plan a party from scratch (mostly because I'm a control freak who loves to DIY all aspects from printable, to baking and photography...), but for this one I wanted to incorporate simple decor ideas and create a magical ambiance that anyone can pull together quickly and without much fuss . I ( Mindy ) live in northern California and one of our family’s favorite outings is to the jelly belly factory ! Aubrey was so excited about this theme for her party {and so was her brother ... my little guy has lots of allergies and jelly belly beans are vegan and safe for him to enjoy too} and since Aubrey’s birthday occurred in the middle of writing my book, I relied quite a bit on the incredible vendors (listed at the end) to help make her day special!  I also relied on a simple color scheme: Rainbow ! The Jelly Bean Printables were designed by Bird’s Party   - the jelly bean and striped patterns were exactly what I was looking for – and they were just perfect!

This super cool Penguin Birthday Party (pun intended..) was styled by our fabulous contributor Mindy from Creative Juice for Bird's Party Magazine Winter 2011 .  Mindy used Bird's Party penguin frozen Printables and create a really rather fabulous "igloo" inspired desserts table, and I think the cute details she incorporated made the party really soft and delicate, showing just how versatile the theme can be for any child's winter birthday - Boy or Girl! I love thinking of fun, unique ideas and twists on popular birthday themes, and it was no different for my  children this year - We always have a joint party as they were born on the same day but two years part, and the  Barnyard Farm Theme  was a perfect solution for their 5th and 7th birthday celebrations! I did snap loads of pics a usual, but below's a taster of the day...Oh, and because I made a lot of the stuff by hand, there'll be some tutorials coming all this week! :)

I styled this really relaxed, impromptu Pool Party last weekend with my kids to celebrate the beginning of our summer! Had soooo much FUN styling, splashing and basically chillaxing with them!! Excited to show today you some extra photos from Alice in Wonderland Inspired Tea Party styled by my dear, talented friend Dorangela from Two Prince Bakery Theater ! Dorangela is one of our blogging contributors, and she dreamed up this beautiful Wonderland shoot for Bird's Party Magazine Issue 5 . Since we don't get to feature all the photos in the mag due to page numbers, we're going all out today and gorging ourselves with extra yummy eye candy! :)

Taking a break from Magazine duties and gorging on some eye candy from our sweet and talented customers!! Today's Pop Diva Birthday Bash  was sent to us by Joan who styled and photographed this party along with her friend Eleonoor, and she tells me that "little divas really rocked the catwalk and song all afternoon!" :)

The printables for this party were inspired by Kate and Will's Royal wedding , but one of my sweet customers from the UK asked me to mod it a bit, and she used the  Royal Tea Party printables for a leaving-do instead!  I've since received many requests for the same royal designs to be used in other events like birthdays, bridal showers and hen parties, so decided to make the printables a bit more general for other occasion - And now you too can add a touch of  British flair to your own party and events! ;) Check out all the adorable details and home-made desserts below!

Today's stunning party is courtesy of one our sweet customer's Claire, all the way from Australia!  Claire loved our Red Riding Hood Party Collection but wanted a more woodland feel, so she asked me to design a little fawn instead!
