Rainbow Jelly Bean Birthday Party

I (Mindy) live in northern California and one of our family’s favorite outings is to the jelly belly factory! Aubrey was so excited about this theme for her party {and so was her brother ... my little guy has lots of allergies and jelly belly beans are vegan and safe for him to enjoy too} and since Aubrey’s birthday occurred in the middle of writing my book, I relied quite a bit on the incredible vendors (listed at the end) to help make her day special!

I also relied on a simple color scheme: Rainbow! The Jelly Bean Printables were designed by Bird’s Party - the jelly bean and striped patterns were exactly what I was looking for – and they were just perfect!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow...

The skies are getting grey, the weather is getting colder...and I'm longing for warmth, brightness and colour!! Hence the latest party collection in the shop: a fun Rainbow Party!!

You may remember this party collection from a while back, but as I am re-designing quite a few of my Party Collections in the shop, I thought why not start with a splash of color to brighten our winter parties?! :)

The idea here was to re-create a bright, fun and colorful printable collection that can be used for other popular party themes such as an  Art Party, a Crafts Party or why not, a Wizard of Oz party?! - Just add a gingham blue tablecloth here, some hay bales there, a basket full of treats...and you're ready to click your heels! ;)

My little girl was off school the day of the shoot, and she could not get her hands away from the tables (and candy!!) -  Hey Dad, I know you're reading and this one's for you! hehe

And there it is...the sugar rush, folks! :)

The tablecloth was entirely handmade using a LOT of crepe paper and double-sided tape. All I did was rows of tape to a white paper tablecloth, and keep adding the crepe paper layering on top of each previous layer, following the colors of the rainbow. Then used more tape to secure it around the rim of  the tables.

The clear, customizable baubles cost only about $1 for the larger ones from a craft store and I filled them with scraps of the crepe paper. They can also be filled with candy, fake snow at Xmas and little party favors too! They really helped to make the backdrop more interesting and in-keeping with the rainbow, clouds theme don't you think?!

Just some rainbow trivia before I leave: I have a mnemonic to remember the colors of the rainbow and their orders and it goes like this "Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain" - So at the very least, you've learned your Rainbow colors today! YAY!!  :D

Cool Customers: Colorful Rainbow Art Party!

When I got contacted by Brooke from Shorties Funny Farm to design a custom Art Party invite for her daughter Lily's upcoming 7th Birthday, I got very excited!

I love custom work, as it allows me to feed on the customers ideas and wishes, and create something very unique and special, and Brooke had a very unique idea indeed!

She had seen my Rainbow Party Collection and wanted an invite that had the same rainbow colours, but with an Art theme to fit inside a watercolour paint set! Fun or what?! :)

 This was the cover...

And this was the invite inside the paint set! Clever Brooke! :)

She was so excited with the results that she also asked me to to design some fun, Art Party Icons to used as party d├ęcor, which is now available by custom order only.

But now for the party!! Broke did an amazing job, and it's my total pleasure to share her fab , colourful Art Party with you! Enjoy!! :)

Don't you just love that cake?! :)

The birthday girl: Sweet as candy! :)
