Hello there! It's been a couple of weeks since the news of my book post , and I've been spending some time on the magazine work, but also taking a breather to chill and enjoy my family. Which of course, includes the mandatory Sunday Dinner preps . My husband cooks during the week (lucky me, right?) and I've been in charge of the (rather more fun ) Sunday Dinners. My repertoire needed updating, and I loved trying out some of the recipes from Foodie.com to jazz up my go-to dishes.

As part of our inspiration week, we couldn't finish without a super fun theme for the boys . Or girls for that matter, 'cause we actually get just as many sweet customers styling it for their birthday girls ! In fact, the theme came about from my own love of science . You probably don't know this, but I used to be an chemical engineer before parties took over my life...anyways, I relished the chance to design something that included a lab coat, molecular structure designs, and the good ol' test tube . This color party theme has to be one of my favorites. I think it has a lot to do with my love of red and all things 'toadstools' . Don't ask me to reason with you, but there's just something so whimsical about them! Not sure why, but when I think 'Mardi Gras party', I think flamboyant peacock . Maybe it stems from childhood, watching the amazing Rio caraval parade or escolas de samba strutting their stuff on the sambadrome of Sapucaí !
