Today I'm sharing the steps how I made that Elsa doll call, from the Frozen inspired birthday party I shared last week. These types of doll cakes are nothing new. In fact, I was totally obsessed with having one for my 10th birthday party (Barbie themed), so let's just say it was a while ago we first saw them 😋

If you're on Instagram you probably would have seen that drip cakes are taking over the cake world right now. Well, ever since I've set eyes on them, I've been itching to bake one!  So for our flamingo pool party (see photos here) , I decided to get baking. It turns out, not only drip cakes are not that difficult to make and taste super yum, but they will totally steal the show on any desserts table! :)

There's nothing more gratifying than tucking into a beautiful and delicious cupcake for any occasion: - Is it your birthday? Yay, this calls for cupcakes!  - Have you passed your driving test? Yay, this calls for cupcakes!  - Got engaged? We need cupcakes!  - Got dumped? Definitely a call for cupcakes!  So you see, baking the perfect cupcake should totally be on everyone's bucket list, 'cause you're bound to need them at some point in life ;)

Following on from yesterday's Santa inspired post, I thought I'd share the DIY for the cupcakes I made to match my  Christmas Candyland desserts table . I used sugar paste f ondant and printable toppers to decorate the cupcakes.  It's not rocket science - more like playing with modelling clay! :)

I cannot lie. Making these clown cake pops way waaaay too much FUN! They are so cute, don't you think? And super easy to make too, and perfect for a carnival or Circus themed birthday , baby shower... Plus, the kids can help too, which in my book is a huge bonus! ;) Get the full DIY below.

Man, I love a good cake! To me, it epitomizes love. My earliest memories is baking cakes with my mom, surrounded by love and cake batter, licking the spoon... So now, I express my love for others by feeding them cake.  Naturally, for my Valentine's Day desserts table I had to have a centerpiece cake. You know, one of those creations that make you drool? Yeah, but master baker I am not, so I often resort to printables and candy to help me decorate my cakes.  Find all the steps below + a little something for you! ;)

Truth be told, I (Tess) have not always been a cake gal. As a child, I would have surely picked ice cream over sheet cake.  My tastes have certainly changed over the years, but I will always have a huge sweet tooth. This Gumpaste Mistletoe tutorial is   from our fabulously talented guest contributor Shaile !! Isn't this perfect as a cake topper for Christmas Yule log?! We can't get the mistletoe where I live, for love nor cupcakes. So this version made with gumpaste is just what I've been looking for!   Shaile is a professional sugar artist, so she has listed all the proper equipment used and vendors. But don't be alarmed by the list of tools needed! As you'll see from the images, it's not at all complicated, and you can get away with using whatever you've got to hand in your kitchen to mark the leaves and roll out the gumpaste.

Hey guys!! So glad to be back! It was a roller-coaster week full of fun and a super crazy work schedule, and despite my utter love for Paris (see on Instagram here) ; I could not wait to get back to my "normal" routine. If you would have seen my (Tess) face yesterday as we drove out of the city and into the country for the afternoon, you would have thought the barrister slipped in a little something extra into my London Fog. On our way out the the pumpkin farm, the high-rises of our neighborhood were quickly replaced with row after row of golden-leafed trees. Maybe it's because I've lived in the city for a while now, but I had no idea I could ever be so excited about fall foliage. The beautiful colors of fall were captured in these Fall Leaf Mini Cakes .

So you want to cover a cake in fondant. Now what? Well, it might not be as scary as you might think. After all, it's just cake and sugar - not brain surgery ;)  There are certainly mixed feelings when it comes to fondant. I am not sure if this is because people find it difficult to use, it does not look as "yummy" as fluffy buttercream, it tastes funny, or whatever. In my humble opinion, there will always be a place for fondant. Maybe not for every event or design, but it is certainly worth giving a try. It may take practice to handle efficiently, but it yields beautiful, smooth results - even producing designs that cannot be achieved with any other medium.
