Much like a fashion designer, we have to channel the latest trends in the party-o-sphere and be seasons ahead for any blog content, designs and styled parties. Christmas is done in May and Summer in December. Yes, crazy but that's how we roll! ;)

Last year, I got to design a super cute printable collection for a friend's baby shower. My brief was " stork theme with a French twist " . We all loved how it turned out, but I'm especially stoked about how fabulously our Gillian style this collection for Bird's Party Magazine ! Today's post is a Halloween chocolate and orange cake, with a chocolate orange buttercream, a chocolate drip and sweet meringue ghosts to add extra spookiness to the ensemble! Talk about spook-tacular, right?! 👻 This cake combines some of the trendiest techniques out there for decorating layer cakes, like stripes and drips, and the chocolate orange flavor is a combo made in Halloween heaven. Bird's Party Magazine - Spring Summer Issue 5 With all the heat and sun shining on us, it's hard to think of Fall, right? But alas, that's how it is in the mag world - Xmas in July , Spring in December... :) I never get bored of seeing the printed Bird's Party Magazine arrive on my doorstep! And our Spring/Summer Issue is no different - The glossy pages really are packed full of party ideas, and I even find my self smelling the pages as I read it in bed. Sad but so true... The wonderful contributor, collaborating vendors and supportive sponsors are what make it such a fun read!! And your guys seems to like it too, because we've reached a staggering over 2 million unique page views and o ver 290,000 readers since April this year! :)
Flamingos are my latest obsession . I think it's mainly due the fact that it's the perfect summer party theme. And that they're pink, of course! Not sure they'd be such a hit if they were a different color ;) So for our flamingo pool party last weekend , we (my 8 year old daughter and I) made some DIY flamingo table decorations and headbands that double duty as photo booth props!
I LOVE making lists and ticking them off, and it's no different when getting organized with my two little ones at home, ready to embrace the start of a new school year!! One of my resolutions this year is to bake more cakes. Cupcakes still hold a special place in my heart, don't get me wrong; but there's something about a cake that just screams "celebration", don't you think?! I just love cakes! Two things. First: It's October - Yes, yes, its Halloween {every blogger and crafter's dream come true}, but its also national breast cancer awareness month! I really really wanted to plan a whole party around this theme and share it with you today! But because of the second thing {keep reading}, I have been super busy. So, will you settle for some really cute Pink October macarons ?! Next year I promise a whole party dedicated to boobbies and pink. k?
“Where’d you get those awesome Christmas cards?” is one of the things we all love to hear after choosing, creating and sending Christmas cards each year, right?! ;) And the answer (for me, at least!) is always Pear Tree. The cards that everyone loves the most are usually their unique holiday photo cards that have special interactive features like their new spinner cards, or picture frame cards . They may have multiple pages like their photo book cards , or unusual shapes like the ornament cards . And any card with a ribbon or real gold foil automatically gets my thumbs up for awesomeness! ♥
