Red Riding Hood Inspired Woodland Party

For these designs I wanted a vintage, whimsical Woodland take on this classic fairytale! My children LOVE the story and I think it makes for a great party theme with cute ladybugs, flower, toadstools and off course Little Red Riding Hood designs for a fun Birthday Party.....where even Mr wolf  is a cutie pie! :)

The weather was still nippy, but I managed to brave it and set up the table for the shoot outside, to take advantage of the natural scenery and party props like these logs, the hedge that acted as a table backdrop and the dry, "forest" leaves on the ground. Luckily, the sun peeped through the clouds just in time to help make the day more enjoyable! :)

For the rest of the décor I used moss stones, dry natural moss and baskets for treats and as cupcake cups from my local "dollar" store, as well as logs from my garden to complete the woodland look!

The sweet treats were chosen to reflect the color palette and the theme of the party, like the "grandma's macarons" and the brown speckled, caramel meringues that evoke childhood sweets!

Most of the desserts were purchased from my local supermarket, and decorated at home. I think it also show you don't need fancy desserts to have a yummy and fun dessert table that suits all budgets!

The cake was a vanilla ice cream log filled with raspberry cream. Cupcakes were homemade and decorated with Italian Meringue Frosting. I popped them under the grill to color slightly, because I didn't want them too sparkling white, but more "woodsy" looking! :)

Both the log cake and chocolate muffins were embellished with edible moss (dessicated coconut tinged with gel, green food coloring) and those stunning, and scrumptious chocolate toadstools from Andie's Specialty Sweets

And off course no dessert table is complete without some fabulous Toadstool decorated cookies from Allyson Jane Designer Desserts, displayed here on a simple white plate covered in wood chips.

My little models wore fabulous accessories by The Green Hedgehog, who designed the Red Riding Hood Cape and Wolf Hat exclusively for the shoot! The Green Hedgehog are now going to expand their "Fairytale" range of clothes and handmade accessories, so be sure to check out their shop for a touch of fabulous, whimsical party frocks for your little one's birthday party!!

I would like to thank my wonderful, fabulous collaborators The Green Hedgehog, Allyson Jane Designer Deserts and Andie's Specialty Sweets for helping me bring these designs to life! :)
