A Charming Mickey & Minnie Inspired Party
This post is sponsored by the KEEP Collective but all opinions are my own.
The magic surrounding the Mickey & Minnie Disney characters is undeniable. As a birthday theme it remains as popular today as it did back when I was a little girl, when I begged my mom to have a Mickey theme for my 9th birthday. This was the beginning of my love affair with all things Disney!
Now that I'm all grown up and have a little girl of my own, I still find myself drawn to this charming party theme. And as party blogger, I witness first hand how much the characters are loved by kids and parents alike.
So when we joined forces with the KEEP Collective, I jumped at the chance of styling a charm-party themed around Mickey & Minnie that reminded me of my favorite Disney moment – my 9th birthday!
A charm-party is one where guests get to create their own bespoke charm bracelets with gorgeous little charms. In this case we chose a Disney theme collection from the KEEP Collective, in-keeping with our party theme.
This sort of party means you have a super fun, creative activity to offer your guests, which doubles as party favors! You can’t ask for better, right?!
But why stop at a kids birthday party? I think a charm-party would be ideal bachelorette or bridal shower celebrations too! Just tailor the charms to your guests tastes. The Disney collection makes an elegant twist on this childhood favorite, but the KEEP Collective also have tons of other gorgeous pieces you can choose from, so you'll be spoiled for choice!
A Charming Mickey & Minnie Inspired Party – The Decor
For our Mickey and Minnie themed party, we kept the food and decor super simple in the traditional Disney colors of red, black and white to match our beloved characters. You could also add a dash of yellow of even gold to punch things up a bit if you wanted.
On the table we had a mix of polka-dots and stripes tableware to keep thing modern and interesting to the eye. Try to vary and contrast the napkins with plates, cups and straws to bring this theme up-to-date.
Complete the look with a black cake pedestal, where we placed our charm boxes and goodies for a stunning, yet oh-so-easy table centerpiece!
A Charming Mickey & Minnie Inspired Party – The Food
For the treats on offer we kept it casual and simple, ideal for a play date or afternoon birthday.
If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you'd have seen my daughter and I bake these Mickey and Minnie inspired cookies! They were so fun to make and we decorated them with more palatable chocolate rather than sugar icing.
Cookie expert I am not, so I opted for the easy way to decorate these cookies. Not to mention the chocolate is way tastier than all that sugar, right? Check out the recipe below.
To complete our snack-fest, we serve juice and milk along with the candy in cute baking cups, and we placed a red gumball machine in the center so guests could sample while making their charming creations! 😊
Mickey & Minnie Sugar Cookies Decorated with Chocolate
Ingredients: recipe adapted from Sugar Belle - makes about 12 cookies depending on size of your cutter
Mickey cookie cutter
1 cup of soft butter
1 ½ cups icing or confectioner sugar
1 egg
2 ts of vanilla extract
2 ¾ cups flour
¼ ts baking powder
1 ts salt
For the cookie decor:
dark chocolate
white chocolate
red candy melts
black food coloring to darken the dark chocolate (optional)
sugar pearls or round candy
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together in a large bowl. Set aside. In a separate bowl add egg and vanilla and lightly whisk.
Add egg mixture to the butter mixture and whisk until fully combined.
In a separate bowl sift flour, baking powder and salt together and mix to combine.
Add the flour mixture to the egg bowl slowly and mix until the dough come together in a ball. The dough should have a little give but not be too sticky to your fingers. If it is, just add a little more flour until you have a firmer consistency.
Roll cookie out to about ½ cm or ¼ inch. Cut out cookies and bake in a parchment lined baking tray for about 7-8 minutes at 400 deg F or 220 C.
When cookies are baked, place on a wire rack to cool.
To decorate, simply dip the cookies into melted chocolate. Decorate with sugar candy while the chocolate is still wet. Alternatively, let the first coat dry and drizzle a little chocolate in a contrasting chocolate color over the set cookies.
A Charming Mickey & Minnie Inspired Party – The Fun & Favors
The party activity was making charm bracelets with the gorgeous Disney collection from the KEEP Collective. We loved how pretty each individual Disney piece was and the bracelets are a perfect birthday gift too!
I chose all the Disney charms mainly because they matched our party theme perfectly and reminded me of fun aspects of my beloved characters - the Mickey & Minnie charms set the tone for our theme, then Minnie's bow was a super pretty pop of color. Mickey's glove added the cheeky touch, and the other pieces complemented and completed our bracelet designs beautifully, including the magic script to reminds us of this magical moment!
On the site of KEEP Collective they have a “design your own” bracelet service and you can choose and personalize the charms pieces and see exactly how they will look on your bracelet, right there on your screen. It's so easy and fun to use!
KEEP Collective’s new Disney Collection includes iconic Mickey and Minnie charms and bracelets for you to personalize with your story. With their Disney charms, you are able to create lasting memories on your keepsake.
It's an ideal party activity that involves no mess, no fuss, and means your guests have something super special and custom to take home after the party. It's a win win!
I loved their charms so much that I also ordered 3 extra ones for myself in teal and gold, to create a boho-style bracelet because you know how much I love the boho style! And gold! 😊
Aren't they pretty?
Hope you've enjoyed these charming ideas!
