(And she provides parents with lots of teachable moments!). Styled by the fabulous Jen from Double The Fun Parties, this party creates a school day in the life of Junie B. – a perfect birthday party or back to school theme for kids who love playing school!

Party Highlights:

• Hand-drawn illustrations and party printables, created just for this party by Serendipity Soiree
• Classic elementary school colors of bright red, yellow, and blue
• Crafts and activities that follow a typical school day
• I asked our guests to come dressed in mixed up clothes like Junie B.
• Lunches provided in paper sacks (PB&J, applesauce, carrot sticks, juice boxes)

Party Desserts:

• Chocolate cake with white icing and strawberry ice cream (Junie B’s favorite)
• Junie-style fondant cake topper from Edible Details
• Monogram cookies from CookieXchange, because Junie loves her B.
• Book cake pops from Cake Pop Fusion
• Peep cupcakes, inspired by Junie B. Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket with fondant “peeps” by                     Scrumdiddlyumptious Bakery
• Red, yellow and blue gumballs from Polka Dot Market

Party Decorations:

• Welcome/goodbye sign made from a chalkboard/dry erase easel
• Chalkboard-style dessert table backdrop
• Locker-style drawers used to display cake pops
• Junie B.’s favorite stuffed elephant (Phillip Johnny Bob) and her doll (Raggedy Ruth) are seated on homemade cupcake stands
• Giant-size pencil
• Lunch box and Junie B. Jones books used to elevate apothecary jars on the dessert table
• Junie B. books suspended from the chandelier
• Black tablecloths to create a chalkboard feel
• Red chair covers with white polka dots – a Double the Fun Parties exclusive
• Chalkboard “picture day” backdrop with handmade bunting
• Paper chains to decorate the recess table
• Chalkboard signs hand-lettered by my daughters

Table Settings:

• Nameplates for each guest (including their middle initial) 
• Pencil cases used to hold plastic ware and napkins
• First grade journals at each place
• Cafeteria-style trays
• Centerpiece using a doll’s school desk

Party Activities:

• Each craft or activity related to a school day
• Art: Decorate your own party hat                                              
• Health: Guests read an eye chart and received hand-painted purple glasses, just like Junie B. in Junie B. Jones, First Grader (At Last!)
• Reading: Quiz of Junie B. trivia
• Specials: Picture day like in Junie B. Jones Has a Monster Under Her Bed. We were sure to take pictures when the girls “weren’t ready” – just like Junie B.
• Recess: jump rope, home-made sidewalk chalk paint, hopscotch, four square, punch balls
• Math: guess the number of gumballs
• At the end of the party, we handed out report cards that I designed in library card pockets
• Party favors were a Junie B. Jones book with a bookplate designed by Serendipity Soiree, packaged n brown paper lunch sacks, topped with a thank you tag and red-painted clothespin
