Watermelon rhyme with summer, right?! But so does a chilled Rosé wine. So I thought, why not combine the two for a tasty and easy to make semi-frozen granita (or slushie) cocktail?!
So that's what I did! And now do, most times when I'm hosting a get-together or summer party.
Mainly because this watermelon and rosé wine cocktail is super refreshing for hot summer days, but also fun and mega simple to make. And can we take a sec to appreciate how pretty it also looks?! Win-win! 😊
When pushed for time, I like to provide all the cocktail ingredients onto a bar or drinks station, and let guests mix their own granita during the party. Yes, it's one less thing for me to do! 😉
You can also vary the favor and add other fruit like cantaloupe melons, peaches, strawberries or any thing that's in season would also go down a treat with thirsty summer guests!
This cocktail is super refreshing with rosé wine, but if you want an alcohol-free version, then you can totally use pink lemonade instead for a family-friendly slushie mocktail!
Watermelon & Rosé Granita Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients - for 4 people
* 200 ml chilled rosé wine
* 400 g watermelon cubes deseeded
* 300 g ice cubes
* 100-200 g sugar (or to taste)
Directions:
1) In a blender add rosé wine, watermelon, ice cubes and sugar.
2) Blend until ice has been crushed. Taste and adjust sugar if needed.
3) Rim your cocktail glasses with a little rosé wine and sugar, and serve your watermelon granita at once with a garnish of watermelon on the side.
TIP: You can substitute the rosé wine for pink lemonade if you prefer a non-alcoholic version.
