DIY Copper Christmas Wreath
Christmas is round the corner, and if you're looking for easy yet dazzling decorating ideas for your party table backdrops or for your home, than these pretty and shiny copper wreaths are the answer!
They're a cinch to make, and help to add a little sparkly to any room or wall, like you probably saw in my pink and copper Christmas party this year! 😍
At first, for my table backdrop I tried making these wreaths with tinsel, and although the results were quite pleasing, it didn't quite match the clean look I was going for. The tinsel is super easy to work with though, and if you're pushed for time, then I suggest you go with it instead!
The copper sequin ribbon wreath was easy enough to make too, but they do take a little while longer than the tinsel, due to they fragile nature. But the results are super pleasing, I even received compliment from my husband, who normally shies away from all things girly and sparkly! 😁
The copper sequin ribbon also allows for a super 'clean' and more refined look and of course, ties in beautifully with any blush pink decor like you can see here. And I loved how chic they turned out so not much effort at all!
For this project, I also hardly spent anything, which is always a huge bonus this time of year! The copper sequin ribbon spools cost me about $1 for a 10 m (11 yards) spool, and I used 3 spools of 10 m to make each 27 cm (11 inch) diameter wreath. I already had the polystyrene and pink ribbon at home, so as you can see it's a pretty inexpensive project too!
But although they're easy and fairly quick to make (about 10-15 minutes each?), if you're making more than one wreath it can get a little tedious in one sitting. So, I suggest you sit in front of your fav Netflix series while making them. Trust, time will pass much faster that way! 😉
Check out the easy steps below!
DIY Copper Christmas Wreath
Materials per wreath:
* polystyrene wreath - I used a 27 diameter
* 3x copper sequin ribbon spool of 10 m (11 yards) each
* hot glue gun or tape or metal pins
Directions:
1) Starting at the back of the wreath glue, tape or pin down one end of the ribbon. This will be out of sight, so be sure to really secure the ribbon well. Start wrapping the ribbon around the wreath, slightly overlapping at each turn to ensure you don't get any gaps.
CRAFTY TIP: Cut your ribbon in 3 or 4 to make it easier to handle!
2) Wen you're finished with your entire spool of ribbon, then secure the end of the ribbon at the back of the wreath with hot glue, tape or a pin.
CRAFTY TIP: If you wish to save your polystyrene wreaths for another project in future, then I suggest using metal pins or tape (works best) to secure the ribbon in place. If not, then use hot glue.
3) Start wrapping your next ribbon piece or spool, again starting by pinning its end at the back where you left off. Continue to wrap the ribbon around the wreath, again slightly overlapping in each turn.
4) When you're finished wrapping the entire wreath, then simply add a pretty satin ribbon to hang it from your door, walls or anywhere you fancy! Pretty, huh? 😊
Hope you enjoyed the idea and feel inspired to get crafting this Christmas!

ReplyDeleteknock out wreaths! love them! There is no way I would ever have the patience to wrap those thin little sequin ribbons a bazillion times around the form - but I sure do enjoy seeing them on your wall!
