I can't knit to save my life, but I have recently bought a knitting machine/gadget that makes the coolest knitted tubes (is that the name?) of yarn.
You can then transform these knitted yarn "tubes" into all sorts of creations, like these macramé style rainbows!
DIY Boho Macramé Rainbow using a Knitting Machine
These DIY boho macramé rainbows have been all over Pinterest lately, and they look quite easy to make using macramé string.
So basically, you don't really need any macramé skills to make them either, but they do take quite a while to make, since the process involves wrapping a large rope with macramé cord or string.
BTW, forgive me if I'm using all the wrong technical terms for macramé and knitting tools, I'm a total newbie at both 😉
But as you probably know, crafting is my jam, so I decided to try my hand at making these boho macramé rainbows using a much quicker and easier technique.
When I saw this knitting machine/gadget at my local Cultura craft store (in France), I knew it had huge potential for this project!
The machine itself is called a "Tricotin" - not sure what that would be in English? I did look online for something similar on Amazon, but didn't find any.
So if you know what it's called or can find one online, please leave a link on the comments below so I can update this post? Thanks! 😘
These macramé inspired boho rainbows are super cute as wall décor or used as accessories to embellish pillows, throws or just hang in a child's bedroom or nursery.
I'm thinkin, if you make lots of little boho rainbows, you could create a mobile or something like that to decorate a baby's nursery too?
Oh, and did I mention that the machine itself is SO easy to use and costs only 18 euros ( or about 25 US dollars)?
My daughter loved using it and it was so fun too! 🥰
In comparison with a boho rainbow made from macramé string, this was also a much quicker technique and a super cost-effective DIY version, because yarn is much cheaper than macramé string or rope!
For all these 3 rainbows I made, I only used about 1/3 (or less) of the yarn spools as well, so I have plenty of yarn left over to create more rainbows or other projects!
Since I was going for the whole "boho" style with these rainbows, I chose yarn colors in pastels and earthy tones.
But of course, feel free to change up the yarn colors to suit your own taste and décor!
