DIY Bloody Halloween Cocktail Glasses

DIY Bloody Halloween Cocktail Glasses - learn to create this edible blood effect to decorate your cocktail glasses and make them all creepy and spooky! by BirdsParty.com @birdsparty

Following from last week's Halloween cocktail post, today I'm sharing the DIY for these easy but oh-so spooky bloody cocktail glasses.

They really look so fun and befitting of a creepy Halloween soiree, but they 're also super simple to make with just two ingredients!

Eek! Don't they look super creepy and cool?!

Any drink you serve up at your Halloween party will instantly look bewitching with these bloody cocktail glasses! 😉

You can basically jazz up any glassware with this technique, and even change the flavors of the "bloody" rim to suit your cocktail recipes.

DIY Bloody Halloween Cocktail Glasses

Ingredients:

* 1 cup of fine sugar
* 1-2 tablespoons flavored fruit syrup in red color (I used grenadine flavor, but you could use strawberry or raspberry too).
* vampire gummy candy (optional)

Directions:

1) In a saucepan, add sugar and the syrup and stir until the syrup coats all the sugar grains. You can add a little more syrup (or even a few drops of red food coloring) to make it a darker shade if desired.

2) Bring the sauce pan to a medium heat and let the sugar melt and bubble for about 5-10 minutes.
You may swirl the pan to help melt the sugar but DO NOT STIR, as the sugar will crystallize and harden.

3) Once the sugar is fully melted and has reached the candy stage (test this by drooping a few drops of the melted sugar into a bowl of cold water. If it hardens, then it's ready.), let it cool for a few minutes in the pan.

4) Take your cocktail glasses and gently dip the rim into the melted sugar. Use a teaspoon to add extra drips of "bloody" to the sides of the glasses. Let the sugar harden for a few minutes before using.

5) Add a little vampire gummy candy to the rim to finish the look.

NOTE: The sugar drip will remain hard on the rims of the glasses for a couple of hours at room temperature, in a dry place away from sunlight or moisture. Do not place the glasses in the fridge as the sugar will get moist and start to get really sticky and drippy. Therefore, the rimming of your Halloween cocktail glasses with edible "bloody" is best done just before your party.
