French Crepes Pancake Recipe
As promised in our Valentine's Day Crepe Party post from last week, today I'll be sharing the authentic French Crepes Pancake recipe with you! Aren't you lucky? 😋
As you probably noticed, we've been making a how-to video to go with our blog posts, in order to give a real in-depth look at all our making processes, be it a recipe, DIY or a party tablescape.
And in today's blog post, I share my easy French Crepe recipe and techniques with you in video form again - with NO fancy crepe-making machine in sight!
French Crepes Pancake Recipe
My children LOVE French crepe with a passion! And they always request crepe at Christmas, or their birthdays or for any special occasion...and during our summer vacation in St Tropez last year, they literally had crepes and Nutella for dessert every night! 😊
So for Valentine's day, I decided to treat them to a crepe party or crepe bar as you saw last week here.
If you have no idea what French crepes are, they're basically really thin pancakes and usually topped with chocolate spread (again, my kids' fav topping of choice!).
So in our house we always make french crepe in a crepe pan. I don't have a crepe-making machine, like the ones you see in French patisseries or street vendors.
And I must say, you don't really need one to make these delicious, thin and easy pancakes at home!
You just need a really good non-stick, flat, metal frying pan. I've even been known to make them in a conventional frying pan, and it works great!
I've now passed down the recipe and techniques to my own kids, who on occasion venture into the kitchen to make them. So if they can make tasty French crepes, than anyone can!
These French pancakes or crepes as they're known in French, make for such an easy snack or dessert course. AND, you can totally elevate the dish to dinner party status by adding fancy and decadent toppings like flambé orange segments and Cointreau, topped with whipped cream (remember the 70s' crepe Suzette?).
But for my kids' sake we went with the chocolate spread, red berries, chocolate chips and whipped cream route. And we ain't complaining! 😁
But of course, feel free to serve whatever toppings you fancy or that your kids and family enjoy!
In fact, in France they even make these crepes in a savory version, topped with ham, cheese and fried eggs! SO YUM!

ReplyDeletePancake looks yummy, I will definitely try with the recipe you shared.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a crepe-making machine, So it's difficult to make french patisseries. Now, you gave the idea how to make it without crepe-making machine. Thumbs up Cristina.
ReplyDeleteYou necessarily do not have to put butter or oil on the surface as there is no chance that the crepe will be burned before you can actually remove it. crepe makers
