Autumnal Charcuterie Board and Wine Pairing
When it comes to the holidays, I try to make my party menus as easy and as stress-free as possible!
This is why I love to start my seasonal feasting with a charcuterie board and wine spread that is a cinch to put together and doesn’t involve any cooking. It's a super convivial, easy and trendy way to entertain family and friends on Thanksgiving or any other celebration!
For this occasion, I wanted to serve a serious wine within reach, and so I turned to Decoy for their classic and elegant wines that are also approachable and tasteful.
It's super easy to find your perfect pairing for all your holiday occasions with Decoy's range of delicious wines! 😍
To accompany my Thanksgiving charcuterie and cheese board, I served 2016 Decoy Sonoma County Chardonnay and 2016 Decoy Sonoma County Pinot Noir.
The Decoy Chardonnay has apricot, citrus and summer melon layers, as well as hints of fresh honeysuckle, and pairs beautifully with pumpkin, Camembert, dried fruits and nuts.
Their Pinot Noir is super versatile with aromas of ripe strawberry, cherry and plum along with subtle hints of cola and clove, and is great paired with charcuterie, cold meats, goat's cheese, blue cheese and figs.
To set up the charcuterie and cheese board, I chose cheeses and cured meats that paired well with my chosen wines, then added a few extras like cherry preserve, crackers, honey and fresh fruits to cleanse our palates and keep our wine pairing even more interesting!
To arrange the charcuterie and cheese board itself, I layered everything onto fig leaves from my garden to add visual interest and another textural, organic elements to my board.
Orange and Blue Thanksgiving Tablescape Decor
I always set my table the night before to keep my party day stress-free! 😉
The floral centerpiece is simply a vase filled with seasonal orange, white and burgundy blooms to tie in with our autumnal color palette. A few eucalyptus branches from my garden finished the arrangement, and some scattered mini pumpkins along the table helped to inject an extra fall element to the decor.
With this autumnal tablescape, I kept thing simple but elegant with a pastel blue table runner on top of classic white tablecloth.
Each place-setting was layered with natural hyacinth chargers, white and blue-grey plates, topped with royal blue linen napkins.
The white plates are great to have on hand for every season. They literally offer a blank canvas to make the food shine, and can be reinvented with colorful accent plates and linens to suit any occasion.
My starter plates have the right tone of blue and a subtle speckled design that bring earthiness and autumnal charm to the table.
The white and gold flatware added a touch of elegance, and the mini wooden chopping boards as bread plates, added warmth and whimsy to the decor.
To finish the ensemble, I added royal blue water glasses, classic white stemware to showcase the wine to perfection, white painted gourds and the floral printable name cards I designed at each place-setting.
DIY Thanksgiving Hostess Gift
I always love to send my guests home with a little keepsake from any party I host, especially at Thanksgiving! After all, it is the perfect time to tell friends and family that we're so very thankful for having them in our lives.
A “gratitude basket” is such a meaningful yet simple hostess gift to put together, and one that guests are sure to be thankful for!
I filled my basket with a delicious bottle of Decoy wine, artisan goat's cheese, a mini chopping board, some cute pumpkins and a printable “Thankful for You” card as a reminder of our lovely gathering! Easy and so pretty, don't you think? 😍
