DIY Spa Pampering Kit With Four Recipes
You can also use these DIYs projects to create a luscious spa pampering kit from scratch to gift to a loved one on Valentine's Day (or any other occasion).
DIY Spa Pampering Kit With Recipes
For these DIYs I solicited the help of my daughter, who happens to be currently obsessed with scented candles (one of our DIYs today) and all things crafty.
She wants to buy candles every time we go out to the store, so I promised I'd show her how to make her own instead. Because let's face it, making candles is infinitely more fun than buying them, right?
Plus, we can make any scent, shape or size we want to match our decor or occasion. Not to mention that making "stuff " together is a great bonding exercise for mother and daughter! 😊
The candles can be used to decorate the home or like I said, added to a spa pampering kit or gifted all on their own!
To go along with our scented glitter candles, we also made gorgeous and super trendy gemstone scented soaps as well as an all-natural, vegan body butter and body scrub to add to our spa kit.
Although I made these recipes with my daughter in tow, ALL our projects shared here require adult-supervision as we're dealing with heat and sharp objects!
But these DIYs are all so easy and fun to make, and you could totally share these activities with girlfriends or your older kids for a Galentine's Day crafty party! 😍
DIY Gemstone Soaps
These gemstone soaps are currently all over Pinterest, and I believe it was the blog Honestly WTF that first came up with a way to make them.
She sells kits you can buy to make these soaps, but they're not available everywhere, so I decided to try to make my own from ingredients found at my local craft store.
I've made both soaps and candles before, so I knew pretty much I could source all the materials locally and use ready-to-melt soap bases for this particular DIY project.
Recipe for gemstone soap: inspired by the blog Honestly WTF
Materials: makes approximately 2 x 200 g soaps bars
* 200 g of clear ready-to-melt soap base
* 200 g of white ready-to-melt soap base
* 4 drops of essential oils or soap fragrance of your choice - we used rose scent
* dye specifically for soap-making
Directions:
1) Melt 100 g of clear soap and 100 g of white in a bain-marie (double-boiler) or microwave at 1 minute intervals, stirring until melted.
2) Place the melted soaps in silicone molds and add the dye, Mica powder and scent.
3) Allow to harden, then cut into cubes and place in a large plastic cup.
4) Melt the rest of the soap and add in the colored pieces, starting with the transparent, then with the white soap.
5) Mix a little with a stick to blend the soaps (but do not over stir as we do not want a fully blended soap)
6) Allow to dry, then cut into a gemstone format.
TIP: Re-use cut-off pieces of colored soaps to make other bars of soap.
DIY Glitter Scented Candles
Making candles is one of the first DIY projects I ever tried at the age of 14, and it remains one of my favorite crafts ever!
For this projects we made pink and lavender candles scented with vanilla and lavender fragrances that are to die for!
All the materials are easily sourced online or at candle-making stores, and it's such a fun and easy DIY gift to make!
Recipe for scented glitter candles
Materials: makes approximately 2 x 300 g candles
* wax ready for candles (the amount depends on the size of your candle holder)
* wick and clothespin to keep the wick upright
* dye for candles, candle essence of choice and 1/2 teaspoon glitter for candles
Directions:
1) Melt the wax in a bain-marie or microwave.
2) Add the dye, the glitter and the scent to the melted wax.
3) Stick the wick in the candle holder or jar with a little warm wax.
4) Carefully pour the melted wax into the jar and let it dry.
5) After drying, trim off the wicks with scissors.

DIY Vegan Body Butter and Body Scrub
I first came across these recipes on a TV program in the UK during the Christmas break, and I knew I had to make them!
They were mega simple and easy to make, and I loved the fact that they were all-natural and vegan too.
Again, all the materials I bought online (on Amazon) and it's so simple that even a child can make 'em! 😉
I truly love the texture and the way the body butter felt on my skin! The scrub is also so rich and gorgeous, perfect to quench my chapped, winter skin!
Recipe for vegan moisturizer
Materials:
* 2 tablespoons raw, vegan and organic Shea butter

Directions:
1) Mix the butter with the oil with a whisk, until homogeneous.
2) Add the essential oil and mix gently to avoid to scent evaporating, then put in a jar with a lid.
3) Allow to cure for at least 2 weeks before use, in a dry and cool place. No need to refrigerate.
