A Lavender Tea Party and Tablescape for Mother's Day
Mother's Day is coming up, and we designed a super pretty, but oh-so easy to pull-off, tea party and tablescape to help you celebrate mom in style!
The colors we chose were inspired by our NEW Lavender Floral printable collection right now in our shop!
Our invitations and printable decorations are perfect for a Mother's day tea party or brunch, but we can also personalize them to suit any event, like a baby or bridal shower for instance.

Lavender Floral Printable Decorations
The inspiration for the decor and color palette of this tea party came from our latest printable designs.
I'm in love with the floral aspect of it, so perfect for any spring celebration!
The invitations include a gorgeous wreath design with lavender-colored flowers and blooms, and watercolor details to highlight the event.
In this case, we used it for our Mother's Day tea party, but we can edit the text for you to suit a wedding, bridal shower or any event you may be hosting, at no extra cost!
So be sure to stop by the shop to browse around and request your personalized invites!

DIY Lavender and Gold Tea Party Decor
We hosted this tea party in our studio garden, and we were so lucky that the sun came out and there wasn't much wind on the day. But, you can totally set up your tables indoors or on a patio or terrace too.
Inspired once again by the our printable designs, we chose lavender as our main color, with splashes of gold to make everything a little more special for the occasion.
For the main desserts and tea table, we used a lavender table runner, which was really a piece of fabric straight from the bolt. We just folded the edges in and ironed it in place.
To create various display levels on my table, I used gold glass jewelry boxes or terrariums as well as mini pedestals cake stands. I love the contrast of the materials, which made the table look more interesting and eclectic, without looking too twee.
To complement the decor, we chose lavender-colored flowers mixed in with lavender branches from my garden.
HOSTESS TIP: Mix real and faux flowers with real branches and foliage for a full bouquet that won't break the bank!
I love the above floral arrangement tip, especially if I'm hosting a relaxed affair at home!
To house our flowers, we used galvanized metal buckets as a nod to the outdoorsy and garden vibe of the party.
I also love the contrast of the various textures on display here, like the metal, gold accents and wood. I think it makes for a much more interesting and whimsical tablescape look.
Lavender and Gold Tea Party Tablescape
Apart from the main desserts table, we also dressed up a table in our patio, somewhere we could sit, sip our teas, enjoy the day and chat!
For the styling of this table, we kept things simple with a purple mesh fabric table runner (available in most party stores) and gold chargers for each place-setting.
We used white everyday plates topped with mauve cotton napkins and gold flatware, pink dessert plates and white and gold tea cups at each place-setting.
For napkin rings, we simply tied a piece of purple baker's twine and added little fresh flowers and lavender sprigs with each guests' names.
These adorable name cards are also part of our Lavender Floral printable collection, and you could also use them as buffet cards on your desserts table!
To finish off the table decor, we arranged some lilac flowers (directly in their mini flower pots) and lavender springs all around, inside a white trough. Simple to pull off, yet super pretty!
The Tea Party Menu
The main dessert centerpiece on our tea party table was this gorgeous layered lemon cake with fresh berries and Mascarpone frosting.
The cake recipe is shared on this post and our YouTube channel, and you can also see my basic cake recipe here, and just substitute the vanilla for lemon.
We also served these delicious Earl Grey tea cookies dipped in chocolate, which I made with my daughter. These tea cookies are so delicious and also so adorable in the shape of tea bags!
My daughter and I LOVE Earl Grey tea, so this seemed like the perfect treat to serve at our Mother's Day tea party! You can see the full recipe on our YouTube channel here.
Alongside the tea cookies, we also had store-bought coconut swirl cookies and French Madeleines, which we served inside a gold jewelry box for that whimsical touch we love so much!
And of course, no tea party is complete without tea! We served two varieties of our most favorite teas: Earl Grey and Hibiscus teas. But feel free to serve whatever you like and even add a third tea option too.
To accompany the teas, we served honey, sugar, milk and lemon slices to let each guest personalize their own refreshments.
DIY Tea Party Favors
No party of mine is complete without some sort of party favor for guests to take home!
For this tea party, we created these teabag wrappers that come in our printable Lavender Floral collection.
We were then able to customize our tea bags to match our party colors and designs, and send guests home with a little keepsake of our event!
I love how simple, yet super sweet this favor idea is! You can slip these tea bag favors into hampers, gift packaging or a simple card for mom!
But once again, the text on these can be customized by us for your event - we can add a wedding date, bride and groom's name or a baby's name for instance, at no extra cost!
