Some of my favorite ways to spend quality time with my kids during the holiday period, is to craft and to bake together. And this year, more than any other, the focus will truly be on family and faith!
So rather than share lavish party ideas here on the blog, I've been creating some content that's suppose to nurture those feelings of home, togetherness and of slowing down to focus on what Christmas is truly about.
Starting with this tiered DIY Christmas village advent calendar. It's a fun, easy craft project that your can do with the kids, and bring it out year after year as a family keepsake!
DIY Christmas Village Advent Calendar
Christmas is my favorite time of year! So counting down the days is as much fun for me as it is for the kids.
But to be honest, most years I just buy one of those cheap Advent calendars in the shops that contain chocolates in them for my kids. So this time, I wanted to make it a little more special and family-oriented. Hence this tiered DIY Christmas village idea! 😊
This Christmas village Advent calendar comes with 4 tiered wooden plates. If you can't find the same where you live, you could also use a tiered tray or tiered cake stands you already have at home to display your little houses!
I really like crafts that can be re-purposed too. So if your décor changes next year, you simply paint the calendar again if you wish.
All my supplies come from a French craft brand that I work with, but you can easily replicate the idea with mini bird houses or wooden Christmas houses that you can find in any craft store this time of year (or online).
I also used scrapbooking papers in natural tones of green and browns with a touch of gold.
For the advent calendar numbers you can buy them or make your own. I also have a FREE printable Advent calendar numbers set that you can download here.
