Neutral Farmhouse DIY Christmas Décor
This year, Christmas at ours will be a little more chilled out and relaxed, so my décor will also be a reflection of that.
Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, and after a tough year, I don't want to stress over elaborate décor. So I took my inspiration from nature to start the decorating process, with the styling of my mantel in a neutral farmhouse style.
The DIY projects for this décor style are also inexpensive and super easy. Again, reflecting the peaceful and natural atmosphere I want to create at home.
Neutral Farmhouse DIY Christmas Décor
For the styling of this mantel, I chose earthy tones, greens and lots of wood as well as a touch of gold to warm things up a bit.
I received a box of craft supplies from my local craft store containing the wreath form and paper used in these projects, but you could totally use supplies you already have on hand, or even change up the colors to suit your décor preferences.
This color scheme is so easy to work with, mainly because of all the natural elements we can bring to this neutral farmhouse style.
DIY Natural Christmas Wreath
My first DIY project was the natural Christmas wreath.
I love making wreaths, and this grapevine wreath form was so easy to work with. It turned out quite pretty, adding an instant natural element to the wall behind the fireplace.
The idea to making this wreath was to basically forage all the greenery from my garden, like eucalyptus, ferns and pine and arrange it loosely to cover most (but not all) the wreath form. So nothing fancy or extravagant.
To tie in all the natural, light wood elements of my décor, I created some white "berries" out of wooden beads to use as decorative pick for the wreath.
To finish things off, I added a couple of cake toppers to the center, and added a pretty linen ribbon to be able to hang my wreath on the wall.
DIY Christmas Candle Holders
Next up, I made these large candle holders using pretty Christmas scrapbooking and vellum papers from my local craft store.
They were so easy and inexpensive, but added much needed light to my Christmas mantel décor.
In this project you could also recycle some jars and glass containers, so no need to spend tons crafting something pretty this Christmas! 😉
DIY Paper Garland
To adorn the mantel, I made the easiest and quickest paper leaf garland in sage green, dark green and gold to help match all the other décor elements.
If you have a cutting machine, this project will be a breeze to use, but you can totally cut out the leaves by hand if you have the patience.
Alternatively, you can simply create this garland using real leaves like bay leaf or Magnolia leaves, and paint a few of the leaves gold!
DIY Neutral Farmhouse Christmas Stockings
As no Christmas fireplace is complete without stockings, I customized some plain stocking with a couple of pretty ribbons.
These Christmas stockings are simple and neutral, but added just enough interest and a subtle pop of light green to help tie in all the other mantel décor elements together!
