Candyland Christmas Tablescape | Kids Holiday Table

Candyland Christmas DIY Tablescape | Kids Holiday Table - BirdsParty.com

Holiday is a time to get the family around and enjoy the company of our loved ones. At some point during the Holiday season, you're bound to sit down for a meal and find little kids among you.

So, how to keep them entertained and amused during the meal without breaking a sweat? And no, your fabulous carving skills may not do the trick here...

The answer is to create a special table just for them! Check out the first of three Kids' Holiday Table ideas I styled for the winter issue of  'Yum Food and Fun for Kids' magazine - inspired by candy off course! ;)

DIY Styling Ideas and Party Printables

The Party Theme & Colors:

The first rule of thumb when styling a Holiday kid’s table is to select a theme and color scheme in-keeping with the décor you already have around your home (easier and less expensive that way),  to create a scaled-down, but kid-friendly version of the grown-up’s table.

For the styling of our first table, I got inspired by Bird's Party Candyland Party Printables that you can find here.

Table Styling and Decorations:

The gorgeous ribbon garland (from A to Zebra Celebrations) pinned around the rim of the table adds the finishing touch and a splash of color!

DIY Table Backdrop and Wreaths:

The back drop of the table is decorated with a ribbon wreath made by tying pieces of ribbon to a polystyrene wreath (tutorial here). To complete the décor, you can hang a paper rosette on either side.

DIY Christmas Table Decor and Place-settings

The Faux Gingerbread House:

The centerpiece is both eye catching and eye candy! I used cork tiles to make a faux gingerbread house - It’s quite quick to make and you can do it in advance with the help of the kids, by using hot glue to embellish the cork house with buttons, ribbon, printable cut-outs, and mini wooden decorations from craft stores.

So that the little ones are not too disappointed, you can display the faux gingerbread house onto a pedestal serving platter covered in candy.

DIY Candy Place Settings:

Each place setting is simply decorated with a piece of white cardstock, candy-shaped place cards  and a cute bottle of pop, embellished with a printable tag, ribbon and cute straws decorated with a wooden gingerbread man.

DIY Christmas Party Favors and Games

DIY Christmas Crackers:

Each little guest also has a fun British-style Christmas Cracker that they can pull and enjoy during the party! You simply cut the template for the cracker out of scrap-booking paper (tutorial coming soon) and roll around a cardboard tube (or paper towel tube cut to size) to form a candy-shaped cracker. Fill the crackers with trinkets, jokes, riddles or candy.

DIY Gingerbread Cookie Sleigh:

Send guests home with a little sweet reminder of the day, by offering some yummy and very cute gingerbread cookies at the end of the party . Display the cookies inside a sleigh box for added fun!

The sleigh box is made by hot-gluing two candy cane ornaments (borrowed from our tree!) to the bottom of a brown box, then embellishing it with printable cut-outs (from BirdsParty.com) and ribbon.
