DIY Irish Cream Liqueur Recipe
If you're looking for a super easy, mega tasty cocktail to whip up in no time at all, then Irish Cream Liqueur (Baileys) is IT!
I've been making this recipe for years now during the Christmas Holidays. Mainly to keep in the fridge ready for guests (or a cheeky night cap...), but also to give away as yummy gifts!
I've varied the recipe each time to suit the ingredients and booze I have to hand, but today's version is by far my favorite! Because of its flavor, but also simplicity.
You can make a huge batch of this homemade Baileys for a cocktail party and place it in a punch bowl - so no need to play bartender for the occasion!
It's such a FAB alternative to your usual mulled wine or even eggnog - both of which seem quite laborious in comparison!
Oh, and did I mention it's a fraction of the price of the real thing in the shops?
Do you see why I can't get enough?
It really is the perfect homemade tipple for this time of year! :)
Easy & Quick DIY Irish Cream Liqueur Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients - makes about 1 litre or 33 fl oz
* 1 small can of condensed milk (395 g or 14 oz can)
* 250 ml or 8.4 fl oz of cognac - I find it gives a caramel flavor to the drink, but you can use whiskey, brandy or vodka.
* 200 ml or 7 fl oz of cream
* 1 egg
* 3 tablespoons of instant coffee powder (not granules)
* 2 tablespoons of drinking cocoa powder - the kiddies cocoa brand works great ;)
Directions:
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until combined. Serve with or without ice, and chocolate shavings on top (optional. but necessary, if you're a chocoholic like me).
This homemade Irish Cream Liqueur keeps in the fridge for about 3 weeks - decant to a sterilized bottle or a glass jug and cover with plastic wrap.
If you're planning to give it as a gift (great for hampers!), then decant into sterilized bottles, and add a cute gift tag. Couldn't be easier!
Simply wonderful. Especially the Irish Cream punch liqueur. For some reason the first time I had this was in Scotland years ago as a youngster. The folks who prepared this dinner party for me invited the whole village. There it was this marvelous drink!! I make it every Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI tried this recipe, it's really good. I will try other recipes. Thanks for the recipe.
