Jungle Party Ideas and DIY Decor
Summer's here and despite all the uncertainties, life goes on. And so do celebrations!
OK, granted. We have to downsize our parties a little, keeping in mind location and a few other social distancing rules...but that shouldn't stop us from celebrating the special moments in our lives, am I right?
We just have to adapt a little...and we're okay with that! So, today I bring you a super simple, low-key jungle themed party table with some fun and easy DIY decorations that still look and feel special, for whatever occasion or celebration you may be hosting this season!
Jungle Party Ideas and DIY Decor
These jungle themed ideas and DIY decorations are perfect for a kids birthday party, a baby shower or any other summer fest you may have in mind!
It's a super fun and totally appropriate theme for summer, and so easy to pull off at home or in small spaces.
Plus, I have created a few easy DIY decorations that even the kids can help with, which makes the preparation of the party even more fun in my view!
I have set the table for only 4 kids or guests, but you can of course adapt the ideas and decor to suit your party numbers.
I recycled a lot of the decor too, and used craft supplies and props I had at home. So shop your home first and see what you can recycle, re-use or re-purpose for this jungle theme!
Obviously, depending on your party arsenal, you may need to buy a couple of things like raffia, paint and disposable tableware. But don't be afraid to shop your home first!
For instance, use recycled jars instead of the hurricane vases I used. Or change up the colors to suit a table runner you already have at home...or use things like wrapping paper as a table runner...or create your own Montera leaf place-mats out of green cardstock...or recycle cardboard boxes to make the leopard chargers...you get the idea! 😉
The main thing is to keep your color palette consistent, and I'd suggest no more than four colors. For this jungle party table for instance, I used green, brown, black and mustard yellow or tan as my main palette of colors.
From there I went about searching for matching decor pieces in my home to fit the party theme and colors.
To begin dressing the table, I used a brown leather table runner. You could also use wrapping paper here, like a brown Kraft paper, or some leaves from the garden instead.
For all the tables I design, I like to add various textures and layer the look to keep things visually interesting.
So on top of my table runner I used large, green Monstera leaf place-mats.
On top of the leaves, I added a DIY leopard print place mat for added contrast and a pop of color.
To complete each place-setting, I included leopard name-cards, napkins, goblets and cute straws. These were all disposable supplies, but you could also use your tableware here, if you prefer.
To add an extra "jungle touch" to my table, I created simple animal print napkin rings and place-card holders. These were so cute and added a fun, tactile touch to the ensemble.
As centerpieces, I used three vases filled with faux tropical foliage like Monstera leaves from this pineapple party and some palm fronds too. You could also use other leafy greens, and scour your garden for inspiration!
To add extra jungle details to my centerpieces, I decorated my vases with raffia, for that wild, natural look. These were so inexpensive and easy to make, and added another texture to my tablescape!
The last final touch were some chocolate balls that I displayed in cute cupcake cases and I added a leopard topper to decorate each place-setting. These are fun for the kids to find as they sit at the table, and can also double as party-favors!
Of course, you could have added actual cupcakes, but I wanted to share a simpler idea with you guys. Plus, I didn't feel like baking in this heat 😬
