Quick and Easy Curried Sausage Rolls Party Appetizer
This time of year we're all looking for tasty but easy party food and nibble ideas, right? So, I decided to bring you my family's favorite snack/treat for the holidays - my husband's curried sausage rolls!
These curried sausage rolls have been a tradition in our home every Christmas, New Year and beyond! They're SO delicious, quick and easy to make, not to mention budget-friendly too!

These curried sausage rolls are much for flavorful than the original curry-free version, and there's just no comparison in my opinion.
My husband has taught my son and daughter to make these sausage rolls, so he has now officially passed the baton to them, and can put his feet up while the kids get busy making the nibbles! 😁
In his recipe he uses some dried herbs too, but I didn't bother in this instance and just added the curry powder.
You can use mild or spicy curry powder like Madras, it's totally up to you. Since we like things spicy in this house, we add the hottest curry powder you can find.
For the pastry we always use ready-rolled flaky or puff pastry. This is meant to be a quick and easy recipe, remember? 😉 But you can use homemade pastry too if you like. just be sure to roll out your pastry to about 3mm thick.
Also, I must point out that I could not get rectangular pastry for this recipe, only the round pastry that's usually great for tarts and pies. But no biggie. It still turned out great!
To make things quick and easier, we also use ready to cook sausage meat that comes with the butcher's own flavorings.
If you'd like to make your own sausage stuffing, you can use minced pork shoulder and add some woody dried herbs. Alternatively, my husband also suggest you take your favorite pork sausages and remove the skin to use the stuffing in this recipe.
The only other ingredient is the egg wash, so this is also a really inexpensive appetizer to serve for a large crowd.
These curried sausage rolls can be made up to 3 days in advance, and just place them in the oven for about 10 minutes to heat up. But honestly, if you have all the ingredients ready, they're made in no time at all!
You can serve these sausage roll appetizers as soon as they come out of the oven or at room temperature alongside a little mango chutney, or on their own with a glass of your favorite tipple! YUM! 🥂

Quick and Easy Curried Sausage Rolls Party Appetizer - inexpensive to make, these are delicious little bitesize treats, perfect to feed a crowd for the holidays!
Ingredients
- 500g sausage meat for stuffing
- 3 tablespoons curry powder of your choice
- 230g ready-rolled puff pastry
- 1 beaten egg
Instructions
- Mix the meat with curry powder until well combined.
- Add the sausage meat to the cold pastry to form a long sausage about 1 inch (3cm) in thickness.
- Fold the pastry over to encase the sausage meat.
- Cut into 1 inch bitesize morsels using a pair of scissor (my tip for neat cutting). If the pastry is difficult to cut, place it in the freezer for about 10 minutes to firm up.
- Brush with the egg wash.
- Bake at a pre-heated oven 220 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes until golden brown and the sausage meat is cooked through.
Notes:
- You can vary the flavors and add herbs, smoked paprika, mustard, etc.
- Sausage rolls can be made up to 3 days in advance and re-heated in the oven just before serving.
