How to Set Up a Hot Chocolate Bar for The Holidays
I LOVE setting up a hot chocolate bar for the holidays! Are you the same?
Come winter, there's nothing I love more, then watching Christmas movies on the weekend with my kids in front of the fire, with a mug of hot cocoa in hand! It's one the perks of winter for us! 😍
So today, I decide to share some easy ideas on how you can style a little hot chocolate bar for the holidays!
How to Set Up a Hot Chocolate Bar for The Christmas Holidays
Whether you're styling a little hot cocoa station in your kitchen, on a shelf or bar cart, the idea is basically the same - pimp it up with Christmas and holiday decor to make it seem super festive!
I LOVE having a designated hot cocoa bar in my house where guests or family and friends can serve themselves with a delicious hot drink!
Even if you're not entertaining guests this season, a hot cocoa bar is always a special treat for the whole family!
For this particular hot chocolate bar, I decorated the sides of the bar cart itself with a blanket ladder, presents and cozy blankets, in-keeping with the winter vibe. But you don't need to go all out like I did, and can scale down the set up to suit your space and occasion.
But a fully decorate hot chocolate bar or hot cocoa station like this would be super fun to style for any holiday party or Christmas brunch too, don't you think? So feel free to go to town if that's what you prefer! 💁♀️
Hot Chocolate Bar Decor
The styling for this particular hot chocolate bar was inspired by some adorable Santa mugs I bought a few years ago in France.
And because they had a vintage vibe to them, they dictated the entire set up of my hot cocoa station.
So I chose reds, greens, wooden serve-ware and very traditional colors and styling for the decor of my hot cocoa bar to match my vintage, cozy Christmas vision. But of course, feel free to switch things up and use colors and decorations to suit your own taste!
To decorate my Christmas hot cocoa bar I first selected all the dishes and props I thought I might use for my hot cocoa bar, and laid it all out on my table.
This process not only allows me to see what I like and what goes together, but also allows me to take note of things I already have around the house, or things I can re-purpose for the occasion, and thus avoid unnecessary spending.
So feel free to shop your own home and Christmas decor, or re-purpose and recycle items you own, before heading out to buy new things!
Hot Chocolate Bar DIY Sign
The one thing I did want for this hot chocolate bar was a cute sign to hang on the wall.
Because I was trying my best to use things I already had at home, I decided to make my own hot cocoa bar sign. So basically, I painted an old wooden sign and customized it to suit the styling and colors of my hot cocoa bar.
I love how simple and inexpensive this option was! Check out the video below to see the full DIY!
Hot Chocolate Bar Toppings
For the fun toppings and sweet treats to accompany your mug of hot chocolate, anything goes!
And apart from the hot chocolate mix itself, there are no set rules as far as I'm concerned. So feel free to add whatever fixings, toppings, sauces, syrups, creams and sweets you like or think your guests might like too!
But if you need some ideas, here's what I served at my Christmas hot cocoa bar:
* Store-bought hot cocoa powder (you could also make your own blend at home or put out store-bought sachets of hot cocoa)
* Gingerbread star cookies
* White chocolate chips
* Dark chocolate flakes
* Mini reindeer chocolate treats
* Peppermint drink stirrers
* Mini candy canes
But you could also serve pretzels, flavored syrups, peanut butter and fudge sticks (link in this recipe), chopped nuts, cinnamon powder, sugar sprinkles, chocolate-dipped spoons...or even a little Irish Cream or Bourbon for the adults! 😋
For perishables like cream or squirty cream, best to bring that out just before serving.
Check out the video below to see all the details, tips and tricks on how I styled this festive Christmas hot cocoa bar for the holidays!
