A Colorful Cinco de Mayo Mexican Fiesta
I have Latin blood in my veins, so Cinco de Mayo is one celebration I'm particularly drawn to. Mainly because of the lashings of Mojito, churros and tacos involved, let's be honest 😋
Last year we held an outdoors fiesta (see all the photos, video and recipes here), so this year I decided to bring the party indoors, but still keeping the colorful and fun vibe that's associated with all Mexican fiestas!
A Colorful Cinco de Mayo Mexican Fiesta - The Decor
We teamed up with Mesa Chic Parties for the gorgeous, real Mexican linens and papel picado decorations to adorn our tables and party walls!
Inspired by the colors of their products, I created a Mexican inspired printable collection with invitations, bar sign and cute favor tags. You can now get those at BirdsParty.com and we can personalized the invites to suit your event - weddings, birthdays, bridal showers, Cinco de Mayo party...
I love how they turned out, and are especially fun if you're looking for that touch of classy Mexicana!
A Colorful Cinco de Mayo Mexican Fiesta - The Tablescape
For my main dinner table, I was totally inspired by the gorgeous linens and papel picado from Mesa Chic Parties!
Their white runners, napkins and bar runner also helped to bring the Mexican vibe to life, both on the dinner and bar tables.
For each place-setting I added simple white plates, gold-rimmed glasses with cute golden straws and papel picado decor (DIY coming soon), and a ceramic dish on top for the rustic look. I love the mix of rustic and modern and think this table look would work great for a Mexican wedding or bridal shower too, don't you think?
To complete the colorful decor, I arranged some bright blooms into a DIY golden vase (an empty can sprayed gold!) and added cute succulents to each place-setting. These added a cute Mexican touch, and doubled as party favors for guests to take home!
A Colorful Cinco de Mayo Mexican Fiesta - The Food
We dressed a super fun bar next to the main dinner table, with all the trimming for guests to make their own Mojitos, margaritas or Tequila beers.
I love styling drinks stations and bars for entertaining a crowd! It gets people mingling and is less work for the host.
For the fun touch, we also added a cute burrito pinata, that serves as decor, photo booth prop and that that guests can "tear apart" at the end of the party! 😉
For the main meal you can serve typically Mexican dishes like (click for each recipe below):
* Mojito cake for dessert (recipe coming later int he week)
For drinks, you can provide all the ingredients for a delicious Tequila Caipirinha or a fruity Mojito (raspberry Mojito recipe coming soon!).
