This year I'm inspired by all things Monster High for Halloween (mainly 'cause I have a little fan at home...). So much so, that together with some of my fave party and food bloggers; we put together a huge and totally SPOOK-takular spread in the Fall issue of Bird's Party Magazine - with decorated cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and sparkly party ideas inspired by the Monster High vibe!
Don't know about you, but after I spend all my time creatively constructing my kids (x2) / dog's / husband's Halloween outfits, I'm spent! So when it comes to my own Halloween costume, and despite being a handmade advocate; I always tend to gravitate toward the opposite end of the DIY spectrum with the super easy and quick outfits. Nothing that involves too much thinking and definitely NO glue guns or spray paint in sight. Read ' lazy outfits for busy moms '! ;)
Mantles are not just for Christmas... In fact, if you decorate nothing else in your home, then go for the mantle piece as its usually a focal point and can instantly feel festive, whatever the occasion. And Halloween is not different! So I've gathered a few ideas to help inspire your own spooky shelfies ;)
Halloween Chocolate Bark Lollipops Recipe
If you're looking for a BOO-tiful, kid-approved treat recipe for Halloween , this is IT! Easy to make, quick, 'scary' tasty and loads of FUN for all. Trust! Plus, it only requires two ingredients , which is a major bonus in my party book.
Recipe | Bite-Size Pumpkin Pies with Mascarpone Cream
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Truvia® but all photos and opinions are my own. Pumpkin pies are traditional and synonymous with Fall. But to keep things 'fresh' and a little more exciting, I always try to jazz up my traditional recipes with a little twist to bring'em bang up to date - like these dinky pumpkin pies! They're super easy and quick to make (and eat!) , look really cute and are therefore ideal for serving as a sweet appetizer or party food on Halloween, on Thanksgiving, or any other Fall celebration.
Editing a magazine is a lot like a baking a cake. Getting your tools ready, making a little mess in the process, but knowing that if you get all these different ingredients together in the right way, hopefully you'll create something drool-worthy at the end. You don't know how your recipe's gonna turn out until you get it out of the oven. The wait is also a little long, but it's all SO worth it in the end! ;)
Easy DIY Wall Art Painted Canvas
Why buy when you can DIY - that's my motto in life. So naturally, I turned to my paintbrushes when creating this large wall art canvas for my new studio bar . I wanted something big, abstract and eye catching to hang as a focal point.
How to Style a DIY Home Bar
If you follow me on Instagram , you'd have been sneak peeks of my summer studio and office makeover. Yeah, I basically spent a good chunk of my summer with a paintbrush in hand...and although it's far from finished, I'm celebrating each little 'victory' and taking pleasure in seeing some areas come to life - like my studio bar!

Hello my pretties!! I'm currently working on Bird's Party EU SHOP lookbook, and Pinterest is one of my first calls for inspiration. So I thought I'd step out of my usual pinspired route and see what I could find/create in a jiffy and inexpensively, using every-day party goodies. Hopefully it shows that it doesn't really take much time (or skill) to create a boo-tiful display ;)

I'll tell you a secret: I am not really keen on living out of sink with the seasons. I'm the person who used to dread seeing Halloween stuff in the shops in August. But due to the nature of my job, things have changed a little, and planning that far ahead is a necessity...Having said that, I'm never quite ready to see winter sweaters for sale in July! And certainly never ready to say goodbye to summer. Ever. But I also know that it's inevitable, and some people have no choice but to start planning for back to school now. So to make things a little easier, this week I'm sharing some back to school printables: Bookmarks, name tags and super duper cute freebies!

I have to say, these bread sticks look a little realistic... But I can also assure you they taste absolutely scrumptious, and totally helped to make the Halloween Chili Buffet a hit! So much so in fact, that when I asked my daughter "What would you like to do for Halloween this year? " (meaning costume...), she replied without a moment's hesitation - "Witch Bread Fingers!" :)
My husband makes the best chili I've ever tasted. So much so in fact, that I never order it in restaurants for the fear it won't be on par! :) So when styling my Halloween Chili Buffet , the natural choice was to cook his chili recipe, and today I'm sharing it with you. It's simple, unctuous and tastes awesome. And you can make it ahead of the party! ;)
A Halloween Chilling Chili Party Buffet
A bubbling cauldron of hot chili accompanied by the usual sides provides the perfect Halloween food buffet for hungry little ghouls - It’s also a very relaxed, warming way to entertain and feed a crowd before Trick or Treat! We love it so much in our house, that we've now made a tradition of having a chili buffet every Halloween! :) Here are some easy ideas on how to style a fun and spooky-licious Halloween Chili Buffet that I designed and styled for the fall Edition of Yum Food and Fun for Kids Magazine!
Black and White Halloween Party Ideas
Have you ever been tempted to go monochrome for Halloween? I did last year , and totally loved it! Monochrome is sleek, is chic and is one of the Fall color trends for 2013. What's not to love?! I think this palette is really easy to pull together (think mummies, spiders, bats, crows...) and really helps to add an air of grown-up sophistication to Halloween festivities. Check out some inspiring ideas I've been pinning:
