Source via I'm a bit of a self-confessed party rebel, and tend to shy away from 'current-trends' or party themes in the name of originality. But paper tissue or crepe paper tassels is one party trend I don't mind following. And hope stays put in 2015!
Following on from yesterday's Santa inspired post, I thought I'd share the DIY for the cupcakes I made to match my Christmas Candyland desserts table . I used sugar paste f ondant and printable toppers to decorate the cupcakes. It's not rocket science - more like playing with modelling clay! :)
I'm not usually a huge fan of football (soccer) but something about the World Cup that just makes me wanna watch, party and cheer. We've always held world cup match watching celebrations in our family since I was a child, so I guess it's tradition now. Especially since this year it's been held in Brazil!! As part of our #SocialCircus month, I decided to make a fun DIY Carousel Centerpiece - But one made with party supplies and candy (is there a better kind?!) that anyone may have in the house at the time of the birthday party. So I raided my party shop and grabbed paper plates , candy tubes and dinky striped paper straws . Not forgetting the adorable Circus printables , and my trusty glue gun of course! ;) This cute carousel centerpiece would be fun as a birthday desserts table candy dish , kids table decoration or even a fun party activity (minus the hot glue!). For my Valentine's Day shoot , I wanted a giant balloon as my table backdrop. But the balloon cord looked naked and boring, so I decided to jazz it up with some tissue paper tassels . Tissue paper tassels are all the rage in the party world, and have been for a while now, but they are new to me in the sense that I only used them once before. And for this occasion, I didn't have time to order any nor buy tissue paper to make them myself. All I had was crepe paper left over from this shoot . So, what's a party gal to do? Yes, make do, of course! ;) I wasn't sure if was even gonna work...but guess what?! Crepe paper has hidden talents!! Full tutorial below.
For the Lego party shoot , I had no time to bake a Lego head cake (as I originally wanted ..), so printables came to the rescue once again. I think the bunting idea turned out super cute, which just shows that sometimes less really is more! ;)
Lego bricks and building blocks rule our roost. My son literally has boxes of the stuff, and so for our Lego Inspired Party week , I decided it would be cool to make use of some of them as place-card holders. My love affair with candles started when I was 14. We had to make crafty thing to sell at the school Christmas bazaar, and a candle-making workshop was where it all kicked off. Since then, I try to make my own if I can, like this one here and here . But making candles from scratch is not always possible..so I cheat a little by embellishing the candle holder itself. With a little imagination, anyone can create really amazing bespoke candles. And no, you do not need to be a seasoned crafter either! ;) These candles would be perfect for cozy dinner party tables or winter weddings!

We can't get the mistletoe where I live, for love nor cupcakes. So this version made with gumpaste is just what I've been looking for! Shaile is a professional sugar artist, so she has listed all the proper equipment used and vendors. But don't be alarmed by the list of tools needed! As you'll see from the images, it's not at all complicated, and you can get away with using whatever you've got to hand in your kitchen to mark the leaves and roll out the gumpaste.

I used them for the Paris craft show (see on Instagram here) last week, but you could totally change the thread to suit your occasion. I'm thinking raffia instead of the wool for Thanksgiving , or twine for a crafty party, or even lace or ribbon for a sewing themed bash or bridal shower!

It was a roller-coaster week full of fun and a super crazy work schedule, and despite my utter love for Paris (see on Instagram here) ; I could not wait to get back to my "normal" routine.
