Baking parties are not just for girls! My son LOVES to bake with me, and he was the inspiration behind our NEW Baking Party Printables! Styling a memorable birthday party or summer play date for your kids can mean a great deal of preparation. So we've put together a few easy and quick tips and ideas to helping you pull off a fun, creative and unique Cupcake Decorating Party – perfect for boys or girls of any age!

I styled this mini desserts table for the July/August edition of the French national magazine, Créative . And when choosing a theme, strawberries just seemed the perfect match for a seasonal and super sweet table! Needless to say, I LOVED styling it - not only did I get to design and shoot a brand new printable party theme in another language, but I also got to play with fondant. A lot! And fondant is kinda like modelling clay for grown ups ;) Another fun aspect is that I had baked all the desserts myself (yes, that is fun for me..), from the cookies to the marshmallow pops, the strawberry cookies, cake and cupcakes !! So excited to finally share with you the fabulous Gluten Free Cupcake Baking Party from our contributor Gillian ! Not only it's full of inspiring party ideas, but Gillian also use the designs from our Cupcake Baking printables  to create the large sprinkles table backdrop !  How cool is that?! I simply designed them in a resolution high enough so Gillian could take it to a printing shop to get it enlarged! Fun, right?!   As promised in my last post,    I'm sharing the step-by-step tutorial on How To Make a Toadstool Cake today! I've always wanted to bake a toadstool cake, and styling our Pixie Fairy Party gave the perfect opportunity to head to the kitchen and get a little creative and adventurous. Now, I feel I need to add a little disclaimer here, to let you know I'm no professional baker and this was my total invention and first time making a toadstool cake. But hopefully it also shows that if I can do it (and super easily, I may add), then anyone can too! ;)

I had so much fun styling this party!  It gave me a chance to re-work our existing Pixie Fairy Designs from lilac to pink, and to create a simple yet charming kids birthday party! Usually it takes me a good four months to plan a party from scratch (mostly because I'm a control freak who loves to DIY all aspects from printable, to baking and photography...), but for this one I wanted to incorporate simple decor ideas and create a magical ambiance that anyone can pull together quickly and without much fuss . I ( Mindy ) live in northern California and one of our family’s favorite outings is to the jelly belly factory ! Aubrey was so excited about this theme for her party {and so was her brother ... my little guy has lots of allergies and jelly belly beans are vegan and safe for him to enjoy too} and since Aubrey’s birthday occurred in the middle of writing my book, I relied quite a bit on the incredible vendors (listed at the end) to help make her day special!  I also relied on a simple color scheme: Rainbow ! The Jelly Bean Printables were designed by Bird’s Party   - the jelly bean and striped patterns were exactly what I was looking for – and they were just perfect!

This super cool Penguin Birthday Party (pun intended..) was styled by our fabulous contributor Mindy from Creative Juice for Bird's Party Magazine Winter 2011 .  Mindy used Bird's Party penguin frozen Printables and create a really rather fabulous "igloo" inspired desserts table, and I think the cute details she incorporated made the party really soft and delicate, showing just how versatile the theme can be for any child's winter birthday - Boy or Girl! I love thinking of fun, unique ideas and twists on popular birthday themes, and it was no different for my  children this year - We always have a joint party as they were born on the same day but two years part, and the  Barnyard Farm Theme  was a perfect solution for their 5th and 7th birthday celebrations! I did snap loads of pics a usual, but below's a taster of the day...Oh, and because I made a lot of the stuff by hand, there'll be some tutorials coming all this week! :)

I styled this really relaxed, impromptu Pool Party last weekend with my kids to celebrate the beginning of our summer! Had soooo much FUN styling, splashing and basically chillaxing with them!!
