How To DIY a Balloon Garland
Balloons garlands have been a huge decorative feature on so many parties and events all over Instagram and Pinterest for a few years now, and the trend is still going strong!
These balloon garlands just get bigger and better with amazing hues, colors and finishes of balloons and some pretty intricate shapes too.
So today I'm sharing with you my quick and easy way to make these fantastic balloon garlands!
I say "my way" because there are other slightly different ways to make them, like I showed you in this movie party post.
Once you master this easy technique though, you'll be hooked and want to create balloon garlands for every event you host!
These balloon garlands look pretty impressive, but they are NOT at all difficult to make, and if you go for a smaller one like the Movie Party balloon garland shown above, then it should take you from start to finish about 1 hour, doing it alone.
Obviously, you can get help and go twice as fast, which is a super clever idea for a much larger garland (like the Halloween balloon garland one you can see below).
The number of balloons you use for your garland will also vary immensely depending on what size of balloons you are using and also how long you want your garland to be. That's quite a obvious point, but worth mentioning just in case 😉
To give you a rough guide, I used about 60 x 10 inch balloons (24 cm) for the colorful, draping garland above.
A balloon garland makes for a perfect backdrop to dessert tables, wedding photo booths, or general party decor.
I've seen balloon garlands used on entryways, porches, staircases and ceilings alike. So your imagination is the only limit as to where you place them or how you use them to decorate your party venue.
For instance, I used the colorful balloon garland above as a photo-booth backdrop for a Mardi Gras party as you probably saw in my Instagram stories, and I also added colorful paper stars to the wall.
But you could also add some flowers in between the balloons for a weddings for example, or some green foliage for a tropical party like I did for this post, or even use the garland as a table centerpiece like I used in this post!
So feel free to vary the balloon colors, the balloon sizes and diameters and any other accessories to suit your party theme or event!
How To DIY a Balloon Garland
Materials:
* Balloons in your choice of sizes and colors
* Strong, transparent fishing line
* scissors
* Balloon pump (manual or electric). But you could inflate them also using that tool we all have at home - lungs! 😋
Directions:
The basic technique is the same whether you're making a small or really long garland, or whether you're using large or small balloons in the same garland.
In fact, I suggest you DO vary the sizes of the balloon on the same garland to create a more interesting garland!
So check out the quick video below to see how to make a DIY balloon garland at home!
