The south of France has its advantages, mainly regarding food; which in my book is already a great start for any dinner party! Especially the al fresco ones where we get to enjoy the glorious weather and scenery ;) But apart from the great food, the Mediterranean lifestyle oozes simplicity and charm, and therefore makes for a great dinner party theme this time of year!

Pineapples have been trending on the party seen for a couple of years now, and the trend doesn't seem to fade!  I think it's because 'pineapples' is such a fab summer theme for so many celebrations (birthdays, pool party, summer luau, tropical shindig...), and now with the Olympic games being hosted in Brazil , I can't help but feel inspired by all things "pineapply"!  So if you too are ready to jump on this tropical bandwagon and ' party like a pineapple ', then this easy and fun to make DIY has your name on it ;)

There's nothing we love more 'round here than a great summer cocktail! But when you have a small crowd to serve, making individual cocktails can be a little too taxing in the summer heat. So all the big-batch cocktails like this Pineapple Rum Sangria , get my vote every summer! It's perfect for entertaining this time of year, not to mention that it's super easy to make and tastes like tropical paradise in a glass!

In my book pink goes with pretty much anything ;) But is particularly pretty, coupled with bright yellow for a seasonal garden party inspired by flowers and butterflies ! I'm also SO over those big, elaborate dessert tables we used to style some years ago. And as much I loved doing them, I think kids birthday parties don't need to be OTT to be charming. I used to get sooo stressed out about last-minute dinner parties. Come Spring we find ourselves eating more and more outside, like for the fiesta party  we shared last week. And there's nothing I like best than evening meals in the patio, surrounded by flickering candles to set the mood! Bonus points if your candles look mega original and smell subtly fruity! ;)

Something about a bar that make me all excited for a party! Be it a confetti bar , a waffles bar , or a cocktail bar . I think it's because 'bars' by definition are a fun place to hang out!  And also because they're SO easy to set up! Guests serve themselves and all you do as the hostess is watch everyone interacting and join in the fun! And that, my friends; is the great start for any party! ;)

I think that's the tastiest post title we have EVER had here on the blog, am I right?! Churros take me right back to my childhood in Rio (no, not Mexico..) where we could buy them from street vendors filled with dulce de leche... (insert Homer Simpson-style drool noise) :p

I could eat Mexican food every day, and with Cinco de Mayo approaching gives me the perfect excuse to gorge myself on my fave fiesta recipes ;) You may remember the kiddies Pinata Party we styled a few years back? Well, this year I really wanted a more grown up vibe for our fiesta, complete with a Mojito Bar, which I'll share later in the week!

Spring's in full bloom, true. But still can't avoid those April showers, so we might as well celebrate them. Because if nothing else, that's when we're more likely to see a pretty rainbow! ;) And who doesn't love rainbows?! The colors are an instant pick me up, and perfect for injecting a little cheer into our seasonal birthdays, baby showers or any other celebration this time of year!

Mildly entertaining true story: I planned to shoot this Cherry Blossom Cocktail recipe with the beautiful cherry flowers we have in our cherry trees. But when it came to the shoot day, the blossom were all washed out by the rain! Shock horror!  But I soon spotted that our peach trees were in fact blossoming (and looked pretty similar to the cherry ones..) and so decided to Google it, and lo and behold; it turns out they are just as edible as cherry blossom. Phew!

My kids can't get enough of French crepes. They love it so much, that we make it together nearly every Sunday! Crepes are a type of thin pancake, super easy to make and you can add any filling to make them into a delicious dessert. The most famous perhaps, being the   French crepe suzette recipe, flambéed with with Grand Marnier and orange.

Spring is synonymous with flowers, but also with the humble bumble bee. And it's so heartbreaking to read everywhere that bees are on the verge of extinction :( ( you can read more on this subject here ). But if it's up to us party lovers, bee themed parties and events are here to stay, right?!  We ♥ the bumble bees 'round here and this sweet theme is perfect for Spring weddings, showers, luncheons and birthdays of any age!

If you follow on Instagram or Snapchat (BirdsParty), you'd have seen sneak peeks of my home office makeover, which includes some DIY projects using marble contact paper. And copper tape. And marble contact paper with copper tape. Yes, marble contact paper, along with copper tape; are two of my current obsessions when it comes to DIY party decor.  And these plate chargers are some of the (many) fruits of that obsession. You're welcome ;)

I first made these sugar lollipops for my kids garden party some years ago (read it here ) . Back then, I didn't have a lollipop mold or a candy thermometer, but they turned out great nonetheless! Fast forward six years, and  now that I own a proper mold, the possibilities are endless, my friends!  Like adding edible flowers and Spring bloom to make it into a more grown-up version ;)
